My talk @ York

I first visited York as an Erasmus student, back in the last century. I was studying in Sheffield, which isn’t too far, together with three friends from Florence (and a million other exchange students) and we’d often try and visit nearby attractions (and, almost every other week, Leeds, because one of our English friends had a car and he really liked the clubs there…). I then went back to do their short course in 2000 — I remember watching the European Championship semifinal between Italy and Holland (which we won with a heroic/distructive performance, on penalties) in a pub with some Dutch guy, whom I am fairly confident didn’t speak to me for the rest of the week, after the game had finished…

Anyway, long (and slightly underlated) preamble, as usual — only to say that I’ve been back today to give a talk at the Centre for Health Economics. I have spoken about our work on Value of Information — the slides are here. I enjoy the whole thing — particularly some of the discussion I had over lunch with a few of the participants. It was also suggested to me that it may be helpful to prepare a set of YouTube videos to guide practitioners through the use of the software we’ve developed for VoI calculations — which I think sounds like a wonderful idea! Will definitely have to do something along those lines…
