Applications open
Applications are open for students enrolling in our MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science, for the academic year 2019 / 2020. Next year will be the third since we’ve started this and I think things are going really well. The number of applications have increased steadily (from a larger number than we expected in the first place!) and we’re getting to a point of having all the procedures very much in place — so I’m very pleased with it.
Here’s the official blurb.
Applications open for 2019 / 2020 entry to the MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science at UCL
UCL’s MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science is hosted by the Institute for Global Health (IGH), jointly with the Department of Statistical Science and the Department of Economics at University College London (UCL). The MSc spans the disciplines of economics, statistics and epidemiology, and aims to provide an advanced degree of specialization that builds on high-quality foundation skills.
Students on this programme are able to select a dominant context of interest, focusing either on the health systems and policies of high income countries, or taking a global view of health systems and policy that places equal weight on high, middle and low-income contexts. This provides students with an advanced understanding of how the political, economic and physical context of health systems frames the application of health economics and decision science; and how this can be used to inform human and economic development policies at regional and national levels.
Strong links to industry and a severe shortage of skills in this area ensure that graduates of this programme are highly employable in their home countries and globally. Student destinations are in government, particularly Ministries of health and/or Welfare; international agencies such as the WHO, UNICEF, World Bank, and Overseas Development Institute; academia; consultancies or think tanks, where they can use the knowledge and skills from the MSc to generate evidence and policy to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and equity of health systems.
For more details on the programme, see here.
